I work with people in the music and creative industries who want more from their lives. If you’re reading this, I imagine you want to identify, set and achieve clear goals. Level up in some way. Be a leader. Or you want to create more space for fun and joy and have the work - life balance you’re entitled to. You’re ready to tackle some of the roadblocks we put in our way (hello perfectionism, procrastination, imposter feelings etc) that keep us trapped in our comfort zone, even when we’re busting to play bigger. Chances are you want to set clear boundaries, have agency over your decisions and have assertive, effective conversations. Lose some of the self-doubt and endless comparing. Reclaim your confidence. You probably want to show up from a place of core values and strengths.
Sound like you?
I know what keeps us awake at night because I’ve been there myself.
I’ve been a label publicist, a tour publicist, a festival publicist, a music awards publicist, worked in music television and for a management company. In the early days I was busy, really stupid busy. I was embracing the hustle. And loving it. Until I wasn’t.
The hustle defined me! The legacy was woven into me, and I bought it. I was working incredibly long hours with not a lot of job satisfaction and the financial rewards didn’t stack up with the hours spent at my desk. My tendency to over-deliver combined with my perfectionism and inability to set boundaries and manage stress effectively ultimately resulted in a chronic autoimmune condition and a case of burnout. Talk about a reality check.
My glittering career as a festival pr came crashing down around me. Burnout forced me to recognise that I was working in unsustainable and unhealthy ways. All of which seemed perfectly normal while I was in the thick of it. Because everyone else was working the same way.
So, I know from experience what it’s like to feel like there’s a disconnect between the life you're living and the life you really want. Sacrifice doesn’t always equal success, especially when you’re sacrificing your energy and agency, and compromising on your values.
I retrained as a personal coach with the intention of helping people like you thrive, not just survive in our industry. I work in the personal sphere which is linked directly to how we operate professionally. My comms background has helped me help others prepare to tell their story to media and other channels, navigate difficult conversations and be more assertive. And as a counsellor I offer a qualified ear to listen to any difficult feelings you encounter in a safe, confidential environment. I will help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and actions, as well as helping you find your own solutions to your problems.
Work with me and you’ll be understood. You won’t be judged.
A ratbag and a member of the KISS army, I have been an active participant in this industry for as long as I can remember.
